I chaperoned a school trip to Germany last summer and came home adding sparkling water to normal non-sparkling beverages. There’s something about the fizziness that makes any drink prepared this way extra refreshing… the perfect blend of soda and juice. Here’s one such result:
Fizzy Strawberry Lemonade
1 tsp. white sugar
sparkling water or club soda
In a highball glass – 12oz or more – muddle the strawberries and sugar.
Add about four ice cubes. Pour in lemonade to within 2-3″ of the top, then fill the glass with sparkling water and give it a few stirs.
This recipe works great with all kinds of fruit. We love strawberries and kiwis, but that’s probably only because we haven’t tried mango or raspberry yet. Also, we use fruit that’s a little past prime because you’re mostly after the sugar, and lemonade from concentrate.
